Florida vs. Auburn

This afternoon, I am watching Auburn play Florida in basketball.  This team is sad.  We start the game 1 for 12 on two-point shots.  We are a turnover machine.  We are shooting 60% on free throws during SEC games entering today.  We have lost thirteen straight SEC games.  Pathetic.

What irks me is recruiting.  Does Barbee recruit Alabama?  I looked at our roster.  We have only two players from Alabama.  One of them, KT Harrell, is a transfer from the University of Virginia.  Alex Thompson is the only player on our roster who came directly from the state of Alabama.  Overall, our roster hails from Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Belgium, Texas, Ohio, Missouri, Lithuania, Florida, and Canada.  I think that tells you all you need to know about this program.  Not to mention all of the players that have departed the progam over the Barbee years.

Amazingly, however, Chris Denson leads the SEC in scoring.  When was the last time an Auburn player did that at any point in a season?

Auburn loses again, losing 20 of the last 21 SEC games.  Will Auburn even win a SEC game this year?

  1. I too am puzzled about recruiting and why we don't get player from the state. One thing I do know is that Alabama doesn't produce as many D-1 prospects as it used to. High school basketball in this state doesn't generate much excitement anymore. I saw the last minute of yesterdays' game. We came down the court at the end needing a basket and as Joe Dean, Jr. said we had no offensive play. Our shot in the paint gets easily blocked. Surely this is Barbee's last year.
